Frequently Asked Questions

  • What colors are included in this Advent candle set?

This set includes 3 Sarum blue candles and 1 rose candle, following the traditional Sarum pattern for Advent worship services. The Sarum blue candles are used for the first, second, and fourth Sundays of Advent, while the rose candle is lit on the third Sunday (Gaudete Sunday).

  • What are the dimensions of these Advent pillar candles?

Each candle measures 12 inches in height and 3 inches in diameter. These substantial dimensions provide superior visibility in sanctuary settings and are perfectly sized for use in most standard church Advent wreaths and displays.

  • What is stearine and why is it used in these candles?

Stearine is a high-purity wax material that provides a clean, soot-free burn with excellent longevity. These Cathedral Candle stearine candles offer dependable burning characteristics and produce minimal smoke, making them ideal for indoor worship environments where air quality is important.

  • Do these candles require special candle holders?

No, these are self-standing pillar candles that do not require special holders. Their 3-inch diameter base provides stable support, though they can also be placed in appropriately sized pillar candle holders or Advent wreath candle cups if desired.

  • How long do these 12-inch Advent candles burn?

Due to their stearine construction and 12-inch height, these candles provide extended burn time suitable for multiple Advent services throughout the season. The high-purity stearine material burns slowly and evenly, ensuring consistent performance week after week during Advent worship.
