Journey to the Cross is truly an extraordinary Easter experience! Here’s a quick look at what families and guests will experience when they visit Journey to the Cross…
The Entryway and Registration Station
As families enter your building, they’ll step out of their ordinary lives to walk hand-in-hand with Jesus on the road to his resurrection. Families or groups will give their contact information for follow-up so you can be certain to connect with guests who’ve come to check out Journey—and maybe your church!
Journey to the Cross Stations
Kids and their families experience the most amazing and thought-provoking Easter journey ever as they walk through the five stations. They’ll experience the excitement surrounding Jesus’ arrival in Jerusalem, the pain and discomfort of sin in our lives, the healing and forgiveness Jesus offered us, the sacrifice Jesus made on the cross, and the celebration of his resurrection.
Families with school-age children will walk together from station to station, experiencing unique activities designed to make them think and provide opportunities for parents to talk about their faith with their children. Note: Because the topics of the stations can be challenging for preschoolers, we’ve included an entire experience just for preschoolers they can enjoy while parents and older children journey to the cross.
Collector Cards and Deeper Experiences
Guests get one beautiful Collector Card at every station, for a total set of five. Each Collector Card expresses Jesus’ love for us in a unique way and gives guests instructions for each experience.
Journey Lounge
Here’s where families can regroup in a cozy corner you’ve set up as a coffee and snack station, which is perfect for families picking up their preschoolers or for guests who’d like to know more about your church. This station is staffed by your friendly church members who can let guests know about all the things your church offers families.

You’ll need at least 15 volunteers—maybe more—depending on how many people you think will attend, how long you plan to operate the event, and how elaborate you want it to be.
6. How many hours should it take to prepare?
Again, this depends on how elaborate you plan to get and the amount of promotion you decide to do. With a projected attendance of 100, plan to invest 40 hours divided among you and your 15 volunteers.
7. How many hours will it take after the event?
You'll have a significant amount of tear-down, storing, and cleanup, so plan for a few hours, again divided among capable volunteers.
