VBS 2009 Mission Project:
Navajo Lutheran Mission School

The evangelism theme of Discovery Canyon invites kids to rejoice in the Word, tell others the story of Jesus, and make a difference in the lives of kids their age.

About the Navajo Lutheran Mission School: This unique school offers children who live in the remote canyon country of Rock Point, Arizona, a Christ-centered education while respecting Navajo culture and tradition. The school works in partnership with the Navajo people to form a community that is rooted in the Gospel of Jesus Christ, and seeks to meet the educational, health, social, and spiritual needs of the Navajo people.

In the last couple of years, the school has had to turn children away during registration because they were filled to capacity and simply did not have the resources to take in many more children. The contributions VBS kids make will help the school expand so even more kids can benefit.

On the first day of VBS draw or construct a canyon to represent the deep need of the Navajo Lutheran Mission School. As the week progresses, fill in the canyon as a representation of the amount of donations that have come in. At the end of VBS, count the money collected. Write out a check to “Navajo Mission School.”

Rejoice, reminds us to rejoice at the work already being done in Rock Point, at the Navajo Lutheran Mission School.
